Disclosure: I attended a press event at Comic Con hosted by Dreamworks. Opinions are 100% my own.

Anyone who is an older sibling knows that the youngest is the Boss Baby. The littlest always seems to be a bit bossy.  DreamWorks Animation shared an exclusive sneak peek of their animated film The Boss Baby at San Diego Comic Con. I had not heard of the film before attending the panel, but I know this is a film our family will love.  Boss Baby, voiced by Alec Baldwin had the panel cracking up!  After the panel and sneak peek we were invited to interview the movie makers and Alec Baldwin!  Animated movies and the process of bringing them to fruition always fascinates me. Below I am going to share a few of the highlights of the interview.  I hope to share more about The Boss Baby as it gets closer to the due date.

Director Tom McGrath shared about the main message of The Boss Baby is that love never ends and never runs out.

“Love is infinite and the theme of the movie is these two brothers believe that love is finite.  The Boss Baby works with this company, Baby Co., that has this pie chart of love and he gets the most love…..And so, both these boys think that there’s only so much love to go around, and Boss Baby’s on a much larger scale.  And they come to discover that love is not about getting love, it’s about giving love.  And if you give love, it comes back tenfold, and so therefore, love is infinite.”

Producer Ramsey Ann Naito echoed those words.  She shared that she is the mother of two children that are the same age distance as Tim and the Boss Baby.

“It really is a beautiful message, what Tom is highlighting here, which is that love is infinite.  It was what drew me, personally, to the film, being a mother of two kids that are basically Boss Baby.  My son was seven when my second son arrived and he was very jealous, and he definitely thought he was going to get loved less, which is not true.

And so, and this movie is about two brothers learning to love one another, and as a mother, when I read the script, I was like, “Oh, my gosh.  This is exactly what I hoped for for my kids.  That they will learn to love each other unconditionally.”

The most unusual baby will be hitting theaters in 2017 and your family will want to meet him! Seven year old Tim narrates the story of his new baby brother’s arrival.  The Boss Baby is a funny story that anyone who has welcomed a little one into their family can relate to.  While The Boss Baby is hilarious; the importance of family is the real message.”

When asked about choosing Alec Baldwin for the voice of Boss Baby, Director Tom McGrath said that he was the only man for the job.  They only wanted Alec from the very beginning. “It was a perfect match.  There was never anybody else.  It was just like, it wouldn’t be Boss Baby if Alec didn’t do it. “

I cannot wait to share more about this animated film.  The director and producer let us know that the movie is not yet finished, but they are rushing to complete before March. I promise to share more as details surface.  And because everyone always asks, I promise to share free The Boss Baby coloring pages and activity sheets as soon as they are available! The Boss Baby is due on March 31, 2017 in theaters everywhere!

  1. […] I was able to get a sneak peek at The Boss Baby last summer during Comic Con and I knew then they had a hit on their hands. Little did we know at the time that Alec Baldwin would have so much success prior to the film’s release playing a certain suit wearing someone on Saturday Night Live. That is all I am gonna say about that. It just makes it even more funny is all I am sayin’.  I felt so fortunate to listen to the panel and interview Alec and the producers. […]
