Oh the joys of being a little girl. Our girls love to be dainty and delicate, but they are also active and on the go – just like a little fawn. They love to be feminine and wear clothing with pretty details and colors, but they need to be able to move and they need to be comfortable. We were thrilled to hear about Little Fawn Clothing, a made in the USA line from San Francisco that is simple and elegant. Little Fawn is antique inspired boutique clothing that uses high quality fabrics and trims that are as comfortable as they are beautiful. My daughters were happy to be my models and they were even happier when they heard they got to keep the outfits! Don’t worry, I’ve got one to give away too! So let me gush a bit about the beautiful details and quality of this new boutique and make sure to enter for a special little girl in your life!
Please check out their online store for dresses, skirts, tops, and pants for your little girl! If you want to order, make sure to use the discount code KATE15 for a $15 discount! Make sure to use by June 30, 2015!
Here is my oldest daughter wearing the Eliza dress – a popular design that is cute as is or paired with a capped sleeve shirt and or leggings. I love all the colors but we chose the Mulberry color for her. Dark purple is one of her favorite colors. We loved the details and the reversible sash. We think this dress would work for nearly any special occasion but it is comfortable and well made – so she will likely wear it to school and playdates too.
I was thrilled to be able to interview the creator of the Little Fawn Clothing line. If you love to hear behind the scenes information about family owned businesses or are looking for some inspiration, I am sure you will love hearing this. Here are a few questions answered by owner/designer Seth Jeppesen.
Kate : What / who is your inspiration for Little Fawn?
Seth : Inspiration for Little Fawn comes from my mom and my grandmother. My mom is the one who taught me to sew. I was also inspired by my niece. She said a dress isn’t a dress unless she can see it twirl. The Eliza dress is named after my niece, Eliza.
Kate : Why is it important to you that your clothing is made in the USA?
Seth : We are a family business and we want to support family-owned businesses. We love the factory we partner with and want to support them. Most factories in the USA have gone out of business now because of manufacturing being sent overseas. We want to keep this factory, that we love, in business.
Kate : What is your favorite piece in this collection and why?
Seth : I love the Olivia skirt in the Summer 2015 collection. It’s so classic and basic, but has such depth between the colors.
Kate : Tell me a little about how you started your company.
Seth : I wanted to partner with my cousin on a project. We started talking about business ideas in 2009. It took a few years to develop ideas and get the foundation in place. We’re so excited to share Little Fawn with the world now.
Kate : Do you have any advice for others who are considering starting their own business?
Seth : First, you have to have passion. You will work ridiculously hard so if you don’t have passion, you won’t be excited for the work. However much time you think you’re going to spend on your new business, double that time.
Sewing is my passion and I still sew all of the samples for Little Fawn from my apartment in San Francisco. Sewing and my love for sewing connect me to this project.
Kate : Can we purchase Little Fawn in any stores? Shout them out!
*I know some people really like to buy something they can touch and look at in person, I am one of those people. I will tell you as someone who is always skeptical I was more than thrilled with our Little Fawn items. If you order, you can also rest assured they have a very good return policy if an item is defective or if you simply are not a fan within 30 days. (But if you aren’t a fan, you are probably a crazy person…. just my opinion – we really like our items 😉 )
And here is my littlest modeling the Lizzie ruffle top. They also show this top with a capped sleeve top under which is cute, but we like it as is. I love the Cyan color and the ruffled details are fancy and sweet without being to fussy. Our littlest is especially sensitive to textures and she kept telling me how much she liked this outfit, that it was ‘soft and cozy’.
Her pants are also from the line; the Emma Cropped Pants in ‘Wheat’. I am a bit concerned by the idea of her wearing light colored pants but they are very durable so while I wouldn’t let her play in the mud, I would certainly let her wear them out and about.
Like most boutique clothing made in the USA the price tag is higher than clothing you would buy in a regular store. Items in the line range from $44 – $89. And just like other boutique’s – the clothing most certainly lives up to the extra cost. The craftsmanship and the quality fabrics are well worth the price tag. If you buy a dress or an outfit I am sure you will see what I am saying – each of these outfits will be treasured pieces and I plan on saving J’s dress to pass down to C, I have no doubt that it will last.
Now I do hope you will all bookmark Little Fawn‘s site! I love to support family owned businesses, especially those committed to making their products in the USA with fair wages. I hope you will shop and share – let’s help them grow! Fill up your basket and make sure to use their discount code KATE15 – I love that they offered a discount code to our readers! If you buy something,I would love for you to share a photo on our facebook page of your little one modeling their Little Fawn Clothing!
