As our kids get older, making dinner has become more of a group effort.  This summer we have been making simple meals that are healthy and can be made quickly together.  Cooking and eating together is really important to us, and we have found some really fun ways to do that.  We’ve partnered with Ling Ling Fried Rice to show a really fun and simple dinner that even tweens can help with!

I didn’t really learn how to cook until my oldest daughter was born.  As our kids have grown up we have tried to include them in cooking and baking from a very early age.  Now that our big kids are ten and eleven, they are beginning to be a big help in the kitchen. One of our go to dinners is for Harry to BBQ some veggies straight from our garden along with a protein and the kids and I make a side dish.  The kids helped me skewer some shrimp and zucchini.  We keep it simple, a little avocado oil and salt and pepper makes both so flavorful!

While the grill was going, the kids helped me with a super delicious Ling Ling Vegetarian Fried Rice.  We will often make a side dish with rice and veggies from scratch, but Ling Ling Fried Rice is such a flavorful and easy treat, the kids are always happy when I pick up a box.Our kids absolutely love take out and are currently on a Chinese food kick.  They can’t get enough.  I recently introduced them to Ling Ling Fried Rice and they are thrilled that they can make their own Asian inspired meal at home. They love when I bring home Ling Ling Fried Rice because it makes staying in feel like we went out to dinner or ordered take away!

One of the reasons we love Ling Ling Fried Rice is because it has no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.  While this is a convenience food item, Lin Ling Fried rice uses high quality ingredients that we can feel good about eating!

Ling Ling Fried Rice has five unique dishes based on authentic Asian inspired recipes from Japan, China, Thailand, and Korea.

  • Yakitori Chicken
  • Yakiniku Beef
  • Thai-Style Chicken
  • Chinese-Style Vegetable
  • Bibimbap Beef

We love to grab a couple different choices for quick and flavorful dinners.  We just want to teach our kids that cooking doesn’t have to be difficult to be delicious.  We want them to learn how to cook for themselves. We have found that it is so much easier to learn when the meal they create is fun and out of the ordinary.

This meal is so easy, and it is really a great introduction to cooking for my tweens. Ling Ling provides a really fun side that is tasty and has lots of veggies and is a little out of the ordinary.  I love that we are able to work as a family to prepare simple meals that we can enjoy together on a easy, breezy summer day. We were able to have delicious BBQ and a fun side without turning on the oven and without calling for take out.

  1. What a great idea to get your kids involved in cooking. I wish I would have thought of this idea sooner!

Now that I am sending daughter #2 off to college, I feel like I didn’t give her enough skills to cook her own meals, especially since I’m not much of a cook myself. My husband thinks I make terrific food but what I am is a great recipe follower.

I like the idea of using Ling Ling rice and will look for it today at the grocery store to see if it’s carried at my particular Von’s.

  2. Looks delicious! The kiddos love helping us cook too!

I had to look up where to buy this and I can get it at most of the stores I shop at here. I will be looking for this.

I have never tried any Ling Ling products before but they sound great. The rice looks yummy.
