Gluten Free Pot Pies by Blake’s All Natural
I think I have mentioned this before; my kids love pot pies. So naturally, we were thrilled to partner with Blake’s All Natural Foods to share about their new gluten free pot pies and natural options in my son’s favorite comfort food!
My son is especially all American in his love for every single thing that goes into a pot pie. Warm flaky crust, meat, gravy, potatoes, the personal size; it’s like a love letter to him. He asks for pot pies for his birthday dinner – I am not exaggerating. I say “I will make you anything you want” and he says “I want pot pies; the little ones so we each have one.” He had no idea, but I had a surprise up my sleeve for the last day of school. I brought home gluten free pot pies, and a couple other varieties for us to enjoy.
Our kids don’t need big gigantic gestures, even just surprising them with their favorite treat at dinner time is often the ‘peak’ of their day during “Peak, Pit, & Prayer” that night. It made the last day even more exciting, they felt quite proud of their accomplishment, and even more so when they saw I brought home treats. Here’s the thing though…. I almost feel like I am cheating. Frozen individual pot pies are honestly and truly their favorite, but it could not be easier to cook. So literally everyone wins!
Step one : unwrap pies, put on a cookie sheet, pop it in the oven. Done.
Step two (optional) : Rinse some veggies and fruit for the side. Done.
Step three : Bask in the joy I have brought my children.
Honestly, most pot pies don’t really fit our family’s food sensitivities and standards check list, but I am excited to say Blake’s All Natural Foods has a line of pot pies that we can get behind. We have found that our family; like a lot of families, does a lot better if we avoid gluten and artificial colors and flavors. Sadly, we discovered that short of making our own from scratch, we would have to eliminate this treat from their diets entirely. Until we discovered that Blake’s All Natural not only is free of artificial colors and flavors but now also has gluten free options!
I absolutely love seeing the change in mainstream food companies. Company’s like Blake’s All Natural are saying “no” to preservatives and artificial colors and even using some organic ingredients instead of conventional ones. Many items have organic veggies and pasta. Their chickens are raised without using antibiotics. And now they are even offering options to families with food allergies, sensitivities, and preferences. When we first had to change our diets it really hit our family. So many items that we had loved were no longer an option for us. Slowly we have seen more and more companies come around, but this was the first time we have seen gluten free pot pies – other than making ourselves of course. It shows that Blake’s All Natural is really listening to today’s consumers. I am thankful that their products are made from scratch and have much healthier ingredients than other pot pie options. While pot pies will always be an indulgent special treat for our family, it is nice to know that the ingredients are natural and several are allergy friendly.
If you have a gluten allergy or sensitivity, please note that not all Blake’s All Natural pot pies are gluten free, but some are. We have personally found a Blake’s chicken pot pie that is gluten free as well as a shepherds pie that is gluten free. The kids all gave these two options an enthusiastic thumbs up!
