Hand print Turkey Craft – Thanksgiving Keepsake
Thanksgiving is a perfect time to sit back and reflect about what we are most thankful for. We made this adorable hand print keepsake a few years ago, and it is always fun to bring it out every Thanksgiving. Hand Turkeys are a Thanksgiving staple for every little kid. We decided to make these into a permanent craft we could bring out every year at least once. Hand print turkeys are fun for the whole family!

Make your Hand Turkey a little more permanent by putting them on canvas rather than the standard construction paper. We think ours is extra special because we got a canvas long enough to include every Turkey in our family of five.
Under each Hand Print we wrote what each Turkey was Thankful for that year. That year our littlest had been diagnosed with a dairy allergy, and seeing her thankfulness for “Ice cream with no dairy in it” makes for the sweetest memory every time we pull the canvas out each November.
Handprint Turkey Family on Canvas
Handprint Turkey Craft Materials
- One Canvas, big enough for each member of your family.
- Inexpensive Acrylic Paint (no need for the fancy stuff for this craft)
- A black paint pen to write down the date and what each Turkey is thankful for
How to Make a Family Handprint Turkey Keepsake
- Choose a canvas with room for a hand-shaped turkey for each family member.
- Plan where each turkey will sit, then trace each person’s hand shape on the canvas.
- Paint the thumb as the turkey’s head and the fingers as colorful feathers. Let the paint dry.
- Use the black paint pen to add the date and something each person is thankful for beneath their turkey.
- Display your family’s canvas for Thanksgiving and bring it out again next year!
That’s it! Every turkey will look a little different, which is part of what makes this such a sweet family keepsake.
