This site runs completely on ad revenue. While you never have to look at an ad, I do hope that you will consider not hiding them. Ad companies pay our site a couple pennies for every visit to our site where ads are visible. This site continues to be updated because ad revenue pays for the upkeep of our site and a small amount goes into our kid’s college funds every year. This site is a SMALL business, and we hope you will visit and share it with other teachers who may be looking for free educational coloring pages.

Fun fact, while many photos of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s work are only ever shown in black and white, those photos were originally taken in full color.  Color photography was the standard in the 1960s, but many photos are shown of the Civil Rights Movement in black and white. Black and White photos give the impression that the photo was taken farther back in history than they actually were.

Grab your crayons and markers and print out this coloring page of MLK. Make sure to print out our dozens of other FREE activity sheets for Black History Month.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is officially known as BIRTHDAY OF MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is often referred to as MLK day as well.  MLK Day is a federal holiday in the United States on the 3rd Monday of every January. Martin Luther King Jr was born on January 15, 1029. The date of observance falls between January 15 and January 21 every year.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was a spokesperson for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement. Those who fought in the Civil Rights movement in the United States protested racial discrimination in federal and state laws. MLK was assassinated because many people at the time were violently opposed to people of color having the same rights and opportunities as white people. While much progress has been made, there is still work to do.
