Metcha Day Party with Hallmark Kids Poster Card
We have a little celebration in our house called “Metcha Day!” that is just for our son. Metcha Day is the day my husband and I met our son for the first time, but not the trip that we brought him home. Our son is unique in that he is the only kid in the family with a Metcha Day so we have to celebrate with a Metcha Day Party! Metcha Day is not as big as a birthday party, but it still involves a little gift, special treat, and of course kids cards. This year we found some awesome kids cards that became an awesome poster – card and gift in one?! Awesome!
So big sister and I made our way over to Walmart to do a little shopping. Brother knows his Metcha Day is in September, but he never really remembers the date; honestly we were there for a week that first beautiful meeting and we kinda just have a little special day sometime within that week. Sister and I decided to make it a big surprise. We went to Walmart like it was no big deal; “We are just gonna run errands Bubba, no biggie.” But we were on a secret mission. We needed to find him a special card, a small gift, cupcakes mix, and his favorite ice cream; peanut butter and chocolate!
So we found the big Hallmark Kids Poster Card display on the end cap of the card section and we found the perfect card, but we wanted to show you the other options too.
There were lots of cool superhero options for boys (or girls I suppose!) – we looked at all of these and picked what we thought would be best for Bubba.
We made a mental note of these special cards for Little Miss C…..
And also a few for our sophisticated oldest girl…..
We looked at all of them, but the clear choice was obvious from the start. Our son is a wee bit fascinated with Star Wars; especially Darth Vader.
Typically we are limited in card choices for Metcha Day and actually thought we might need to make our own. Believe it or not, there are not many ‘Metcha Day’ card options out there – #AdoptiveFamilyProblems … While many of the cards were specifically for birthdays, some were more general and that was perfect! The Darth Vader Card said “I have you now!” on the front, “The Force Is Strong With This One.” on the inside, and opens to a HUGE door sized poster that also says “The Force Is Strong With This One.”
Hot tip – if you are thrifty like me you might want to sign up for the Hallmark Card Rewards Program. Members earn rewards for the Hallmark Cards they buy at Walmart. For every 5 cards you buy you will earn a reward! Great to keep in mind, especially with holidays coming up, but seriously – we buy a ton of cards just for kid’s birthday parties so this is great for us! Check out the link above if you want to sign up too!
It is safe to say he felt very special! He loved the attention and he LOVED the card!
Not only did we have a fun little surprise after dinner, but his Star Wars Room got a serious upgrade!
His face is like ” You know it!” LOL
Seriously though, Happy Metcha Day to our little man! Thank you for all the crazy fun, energetic hugs, and patience building exercises you have brought to us ever since that first meeting. We would choose you again 1000 times! We are so blessed that you are our boy!
