The BFG was a favorite novel of mine as a child and my kids have inherited that love. This past summer I attended the red carpet premiere of The BFG and I fell in love with the movie too. The BFG is an imaginative family friendly movie that is perfect to watch on a cozy winter night. I am thrilled to add The BFG to our home movie library. It surprised me that the movie was not a big box office hit, but I hope that many who may have missed it the first time will enjoy it at home.
The BFG (The Big Friendly Giant) is the story of an orphan named Sophie and a Giant. The two team up to bravely save England from man eating Giants. The BFG is based on the children’s book by Roald Dahl by the same name and was directed by Steven Spielberg. It is charming and brilliant and encouraging! Read our The BFG review here!
Our favorite thing about owning a new movie (other than being able to now watch it whenever we want!) is being able to dive into the bonus features. Our family loves to see how movies were made, the scenes that didn’t make it into the film, and behind the scenes fun. Check out the awesome bonus features in The BFG. The bonus features are all great, but our favorite has to be Gobblefunk. The magical language of giant country is brought to life and explained in detail.
- BRINGING THE BFG TO LIFE
- THE BIG FRIENDLY GIANT AND ME
- GOBBLEFUNK – THE WONDERFUL WORDS OF THE BFG
- GIANTS 101
- MELISSA MATHISON: A TRIBUTE
- JOHN WILLIAMS: SCORING A DREAM
While we were in Los Angeles for #MoanaEvent we also enjoyed brunch with Lucy Dahl who is the daughter of the late Roald Dahl (author of The BFG). I cannot wait to share more in just a few days, but know that I love The BFG even more now!
