The first hint of the holidays is here! Disneyland has announced their dates for Mickey’s Halloween Party 2018. Mickey’s Halloween Party is one of the Disneyland Resort’s most festive ways to ring the holiday season. Halloween is popular and the season starts a early at the Disneyland Resort. That is even a few days earlier than the party began last year! It may seem early to announce that Mickey’s Halloween Party dates and ticket information, but crowds will not wait. In years past, tickets have sold out for many dates weeks in advance. Below we have shared some photos from years gone by, information, and of course ticket dates!
Mickey’s Halloween Party is a private ticketed event where guests will enjoy smaller crowds, themed costumed characters, special Halloween treats, exclusive entertainment, and the thrill of dressing up like a kid again! Mickey’s Halloween Party does require a special ticket. Those who purchase a regular admission ticket on a Mickey’s Halloween Party day will need to exit the park at the beginning of the party. Mickey’s Halloween Party is exclusive for ticket holders for five hours! Those who are attending the party will have the entire park to themselves for five hours to trick or treat, ride rides, take selfies with characters, watch parades, fireworks, and more! In addition to the five hour party, Halloween party ticket holders are allowed to ‘mix in’ with regular admission guests up to three hours before the party starts. With a Mickey’s Halloween Party ticket you can enjoy up to 8 hours in Disneyland Park!

Last year a new tradition started that I am excited to see continue. Mickey’s Halloween Party guests will get to visit Disney California Adventure Park as part of the pre party mix in! Disney California Adventure is getting into the Halloween spirit this year with a Cars Land “Haul-O-Ween’ transformation. Lightning McQueen, Mater, Cruz, Red, and DJ will all be dressed up to ‘trunk or treat’. Scary the Scarecar will be at the entrance of Route 66, themed decor, and Radiator Springs will be transformed into “Radiator Screams” all for a limited time.
Another perfect addition to Mickey’s Halloween Party is an included Disney PhotoPass. Guests attending Mickey’s Halloween Party will enjoy an UNLIMITED Disney PhotoPass for the event! Ride photos, pictures with characters, and other photo opps are ALL included! Leave your camera at home and you can still bring home so many adorable Disneyland photos!
Last year we were Roger and Anita from 101 Dalmatians. To answer your question; no, I did not wear those heels all day or night. I only wore them for pictures!
Our littlest was Boo. If you are looking for a super easy DIY Boo Costume (no sew!) you are in for a treat! Cruela de Vil gave her a lesson in making kissy faces at the camera. She had such a fun conversation with Cruela. She came back over to us and said “That lady is a bad guy, but she was nice to me!”
Mickey’s Halloween Party is the only time adults and kids over 13 are allowed to wear costumes in the park. One of our family’s favorite things to do during our annual trip to Mickey’s Halloween Party is to people watch. People wear costumes that range from simple to extravagant. Guests are of course not required to dress up – but if you do, please refer to the costume guidelines just to make sure it is allowed in the park. Guidelines are listed on the Mickey’s Halloween Party link above. Please note that guests under 13 have less restrictions to costumes, but it is still good to know. Disney will not allow you in the park if your costume does not comply so make sure to have it sorted out before you get there!
This magical event is not only a great way to celebrate the Halloween season, but it is also a great way to visit the Disneyland Resort on a tighter budget. Admission to the party is less expensive than a typical day ticket. Because crowds are kept quite low for party dates and almost every ride is open, guests typically enjoy short lines and can experience more rides than they would on a regular day in the park. While there are dozens of Halloween themed treats that you will no doubt want to indulge in, it is important to note again for those looking to stretch a budget that there will be no shortage of free candy being handed out the entire night. Not only do cast members pass out candy by the armful, but they also pass out some non candy treats – fresh apples, carrots, chips, raisins, crackers, and more. Snacks are covered! And of course Disneyland doesn’t quite seem like Disneyland without an awesome parade or fireworks; Mickey’s Halloween Party offers both! Disneyland is a splurge for sure, but Mickey’s Halloween Party offers many budget stretching opportunities for those planning a visit.
Guests of all ages may want a few ideas for Halloween costumes that are Mickey’s Halloween Party appropriate. One of our most popular posts is our very simple Lilo costume that we ‘made’ ourselves. When our son begged us to make him an Olaf costume a few years back my husband jumped feet first into the project. Looking for more inspiration? Don’t miss our DIY Disney Inspired Costume Round up!
Historically most nights do sell out before the end of August with weekends and dates closer to Halloween selling out even sooner. If you are looking to visit for Mickey’s Halloween Party, make sure to not delay. Ticket prices did go up this year, but remember it includes admission to both parks and an unlimited PhotoPass! Grab your calendar and check out the dates listed above
Please note the earlier dates are the best value, and even more so for season pass holders. This event almost always sells out every single night far in advance, so make sure to make a plan early.
