Tale of the Lion King in Disney California Adventure

How excited are you about the recent Disney remakes hitting theaters lately? I love the memes floating around that say we’re actually living in the 90s because movie theaters are advertising for Toy Story, Aladdin and The Lion King movies. It’s like being a kid again! What’s extra fun is that Disney is letting its Resort get in on the action with new shows such as Tale of the Lion King in Disney California Adventure. My friends from Get Away Today have the inside scoop on this live show, which I get to share with you today.

Lion King show DCA

“Tale of the Lion King” at Disney California Adventure Park celebrates Disney’s “The Lion King” with an imaginative new adaptation of this timeless story presented as a limited-time theatrical musical production multiple times daily at the Palisades Stage. The show features a cast of 18 performers who form an ensemble called the Storytellers of the Pride Lands. This traveling troupe specializes in retelling revered stories in their own contemporary style, weaving their tale through language, song and dance. Disneyland Resort is located in Anaheim, Calif. (Joshua Sudock/Disneyland Resort)

Believe it or not, there is more going on at The Disneyland Resort than just Galaxy’s Edge.  One of the things we are most excited about is The Tale of the Lion King at DCA!

Tale of the Lion King in Disney California Adventure

Have you heard about this new performance based on The Lion King? Tale of the Lion King in Disney California Adventure debuted on June 7, 2019 and has a limited-time run through September 2, 2019.

Characters & Music

Based on your favorite, classic Disney movie The Lion King, Tale of the Lion King features beloved Disney Characters such as Mufasa, Simba, Nala, Scar, Timon and Pumba. The characters come to life in this stage adaptation set to new arrangements of some of the best music Disney has ever offered. Does it get any better than “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata” or “I Just Can’t Wait to be King”? I’m sure you’ll be tapping your feet to new and familiar tunes throughout the 24-minute production.

Stage & Cast

Tale of the Lion King in Disney California Adventure is presented in Paradise Gardens Park, across the bay from Pixar Pier. The outdoor, amphitheater style at Palisades Stage provides a spectacular view of the multi-level stage, and The Incredicoaster in the background. Take in the Savannah-inspired set designs that help tell the Tale of the Lion King.

The cast of Tale of the Lion King is an 18-member group of Pride Land Storytellers. With music, dance, narration and costumes they share the journey Simba took to become King. While they do follow the original plotline from the movie, you can imagine there are many adaptations in order to fit the 24-minute run time.
