Are you trying to find the perfect holiday or moving to college gift for your kid, but you can’t find the right Lego set? Look no further than this Ultimate 18+ Lego Guide! Compiled by a college student for 18+ Lego Builders, this guide features sets from Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and much more. Lego sets are for all ages, so make sure to check out this one for your college student!
These Lego Sets are all listed as 18+ on the official website. These sets take much longer than normal sets to build, and have a higher difficulty level. These are perfect for a break or a continuous project. We also included some small ones in case you want a small set for your dorm room or apartment. But don’t worry, we’ve also included some of the biggest sets on the market right now as well. Happy building!
Peanuts: Snoopy’s Doghouse Set
Starting off simple but cute, we have Snoopy’s Doghouse set. Featuring 964 pieces, this one isn’t too difficult of a build, but it would make a beautiful set to have in your room. It comes with Snoopy, Woodstock, and Snoopy’s typewriter. It is also definitely on the more inexpensive end of the 18+ Legos at $89.99.
Tower Bridge Architecture
This is a fairly new Lego set, featuring the iconic Tower Bridge from London. Seen in many movies such as Peter Pan and Spiderman Homecoming, this set would be an awesome display piece. This set has 3745 pieces, and is almost 3 feet long. Some cool features include miniature cars and a moving drawbridge. This is definitely a great set for anyone looking for a cool architecture piece.
The Shire
Up next we have one of my personal favorites, the Shire from the Hobbit. Featuring 2017 pieces, this set is a fairly big build. This set takes approximately 6-8 hours to build, making it a great set for a weekend or daily project. It also comes with Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf, Frodo, Merry and Pippin, and Sam. This set is perfect for Lord of the Rings fans who aren’t looking to spend too much. However, this set is on the medium side of prices, with a price of $269.99. This is definitely a great set to check out if you’re looking to dedicate some serious time to building.
The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter
With the Mandalorian movie being released, I had to include this set. This is part of Lego’s Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) Franchise, which are known to be very detailed sets. This starfighter comes with both the Mandalorian and Grogu. The set itself contains 1809 pieces. This set is definitely one of the most detailed starfighter sets out there. It features the twin engines with exposed details, as well as different armor platings throughout the ship. This set costs $249.99, which for its price definitely delivers a cool set.
New York City- The Big Apple
This set is definitely one of those that you want to build mainly for display purposes. It features the New York Skyline with an apple as the backdrop. This is one of those more minimalistic sets that doesn’t take too long to build, but the end result is worth it. This set has 1465 pieces, so while it is on a higher end of pieces, it is pretty simple. This set also costs $139.99, so it is also on the less expensive side of high end sets.
Japanese Cherry Blossom Landscape
This set is another one of Lego’s picture sets. Lego has been recreating famous paintings but with Legos. This one is different however, as the actual pieces come outside of the “canvas”. These art sets are notoriously time consuming and repetitive, but are very fun to build. This set has 1892 pieces, and is very vibrant and colorful. It’s definitely a great set for art enthusiasts or people looking to brighten up their rooms. It costs $139.99.
Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship
This set is perfect for Pirates Of the Caribbean enthusiasts as well as history enthusiasts! This ship features realistic aspects such as opening cannon ports, paper sails, and much more. It also comes with Jack Sparrow, Hector Barbossa, Will Turner, and so many more. This ship has 2682 pieces, so it will be a very lengthy build time. It also has some more intricate parts such as sails so those can be difficult for new builders. This ship costs $379.99, which is definitely in the upper range of sets.
The Lord of The Rings: Barad-dur
This set has been one of the more recent Lord of The Rings releases, and is by far one of the coolest Lord of The Rings sets. Most people know this as the Eye of Sauron, and it perhaps one of the most recognizable parts of the Lord of The Rings franchise. This set has 5471 pieces as well as 10 minifigures. One of these minifigures is Sauron himself. This set is pretty expensive, and is currently $459.99. This is definitely one of those sets that is worth the spend, as it requires extensive build time, and it includes many intricate details.
Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser
Perhaps the greatest Lego Star Wars set ever made, it is the UCS Venator. This set has been out for quite some time due to its popularity. It has 5374 pieces and features detailed turrets and colors. It also comes with Captain Rex and Admiral Yularen. Captain Rex is by far one of the coolest lego minifigures. This is another very time consuming build. It takes experienced builders 15-25 hours to build, purely based on its size and detail. In addition to external details, this cruiser also has internal details such as a hangar, command bridge, and so much more. The Venator is by far one of the most expensive sets, with a cost of $649.99.
Milky Way Galaxy
Finally, just for fun I wanted to add this set. This is by far one of the most time consuming lego sets, considering most of it is made up of individual studs. With about 3091 pieces, this set is a multi-day build. This set is $199.99, which is actually a pretty good price considering the set.
Hopefully this Ultimate 18+ Lego Gift Guide made shopping for Legos a little bit easier for your older ones. We’ve included the links to buy each set, but be sure to check the prices because they do fluctuate as time goes by.
