Who was Harriet Tubman?

Harriet Tubman was born into slavery in 1822. Harriet Tubman is most famous for her role as a “conductor” on the Underground Railroad. The Underground Railroad was a network of abolitionists who aided enslaved people in escaping to freedom in the North. Tubman led countless men, women, and children out of slavery and  to safety, often at great personal risk. Tubman also served as a Union spy during the Civil War, a nurse, and a supporter of women’s suffrage.
