Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Opening & Reservations
Everyone is SO excited to finally have an opening date for “Star Wars Land” Disneyland! Select rides will be included in the May 31, 2019 opening for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and guests will have access to all the outposts hosted in Galaxy’s Edge. That means you will be able to eat and shop authentic Star Wars inspired food and cargo all summer long. Now, just in case you’re worrying it will be a frantic free-for-all when it comes to getting into Galaxy’s Edge, guests who visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when it initially opens on May 31, 2019, and extending until June 23, 2019, will need valid theme park admission and will be required to make a no-cost reservation to access the land. So in addition to having Disneyland tickets, you will need to make advance reservations to access Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Reservations will not be at an additional cost, but they are sure to fill up quickly.
Guests can make a reservation for Galaxy’s Edge beginning May 2nd. Guests who have made reservations at a Disneyland Resort Hotel for after the opening can make reservations now.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge invites guests on a journey to a galaxy far, far away, where they can live their own Star Wars adventures. This epic new land will immerse guests in iconic stories like never before, pushing boundaries and transporting guests to a place where beloved Star Wars stories come to life. It all begins May 31 at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, and today we announced that no-cost reservations to visit the land will be available May 2.* Guests looking to confirm a reservation today can book a stay at a Disneyland Resort Hotel between May 31 and June 23, 2019.*
Guests who choose to stay at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels will automatically be given reservations when they have valid theme park admission for visits May 31 – June 23, 2019. More details on how that works hasn’t yet been released, but you can check back here for updates when they come! It’s anticipated it will be like making advance reservations for restaurants; you can do that first and then book a vacation package with Get Away Today to correspond with your Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge reservation. If there was ever a time to splurge on a Disneyland Resort Hotel, now is the time!
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Attractions
When Star Wars land Disneyland opens on May 31, 2019, one of two new rides will be open: The Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will be up and running, but will not be eligible for FastPass or MaxPass usage. Disney plans to keep an eye on how that pans out, and reevaluate whether or not the Star Wars ride will someday be usable with FastPass. When we know the open date for the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride, we’ll be sure to share. Since it’s a more advanced, intergalactic ride, Disney is giving Rise of the Resistance some extra time before it’s available to experience in Galaxy’s Edge.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Food
We’re so excited for all the Star Wars inspired food options that will be available in Galaxy’s Edge! The whole land is modeled after Black Spire Outpost, which is located on the last stop for traders on the planet Batuu. The food and merchandise stalls in Galaxy’s edge will give guests the feeling that they’re stopping in at the Black Spire Outpost to sample goods and services. As far as the food goes, here’s what we know will be available:
Oga’s Cantina: Want to mingle with locals, aliens and bounty hunters? Then head to the local watering hole in Galaxy’s Edge. Despite the seemingly rough clientele, Oga’s Cantina is a family-friendly establishment that will serve light refreshments such as blue milk, alcoholic beverages and snacks. There will even be DJ droid R-3X spinning tracks at the Cantina to add to the atmosphere.
Most Disneyland Resort guests know that with the exception of Club 33, there is no alcohol served at Disneyland. While you can enjoy an alcoholic beverage across the way at Disney’s California Adventure Park, at Disneyland you were out of luck. The announcement that there will be an assortment of Star Wars themed drinks, a few of them only for those 21 and up was a fun surprise announcement!
Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo: This will be your stop for a number of food options in Galaxy’s Edge. Check out what we know so far about the offerings:
Tuggs’ Grub: Chef “Cookie” Tuggs is operating an intergalactic food truck in Galaxy’s Edge since the First Order destroyed Maz Kanata’s castle, where he used to reside as Chef. At Tuggs’ Grub you can expect to find exoctic dishes such as braised Shaak roast, Endorian tip-yip, Ithorian garden loaf, Kaddu ribs and Burra fish.
Ronto Roasters: Here you’ll find exotic meats turning on a spit, roasting to perfection under the supervision of former smelter droid 8D-J8.
Milk Stand: Don’t worry, you won’t be drinking actual milk from Bubo Wamba Family Farms at the Milk Stand outpost. Blue and green milk will actually be frozen drinks more like smoothies. Blue milk will have a berry flavor, and green milk will be more tropical. Also, the milk itself is nondairy so more guests will be able to enjoy this refreshing treat.
Kat Saka’s Kettle: Galaxy’s Edge couldn’t be part of Disneyland without having popcorn! Here at Kat Saka’s you can try a mix of sweet, salty and spicy popcorn.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Merchandise
The merchandise in Star Wars land Disneyland won’t be your typical Disney-branded souvenirs. The outposts in Galaxy’s Edge will only be selling items that are authentic to the land that has been created. You can expect to find rare items in Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, and you can spend 20 minutes in Savi’s Workshop building your own custom lightsaber to take home. Other merchandise options in Galaxy’s Edge include the following:
The Droid Depot: Want a galactic companion who can actually interact with other robots and characters in Star Wars land Disneyland? Then stop by this Droid Depot to construct your own droid that you can take home.
Black Spire Outfitters: A clothing outpost in Galaxy’s Edge, don’t expect to find any Disney-branded apparel here! It will all be authentic to the immersive Star Wars land Disneyland experience.
The Creature Stall: Adopt an alien creature from this stall to take home.
The Jewels of Bith: An accessories and jewels outpost.
First Order Cargo: This hangar bay is run by officers of the First Order, and here you’ll find the uniforms and supplies you’ll need to fit in with them.
Resistance Supply: Shop at this outpost to find all the gear you could possibly need to join the Resistance.
Toydarian Toymaker: Find toys and gifts made by Toydarians at this stall.
