Disney has brought us some of the most magical and nostalgic movies this year, but they saved the best for last. Earlier this year I was privileged to peek behind the scenes, interview movie makers, and even walk the red carpet for Disney’s Christopher Robin and the much anticipated Wreck it Ralph sequel Ralph Breaks the Internet; which I will treasure always. The movie they saved for the holiday season of 2018 is more than my sentimental, Disney Classic, musical loving heart could ever dream up. Mary Poppins Returns debuts in theaters on December 19, 2018 and I have been on the edge of my seat for months. I am so excited to share that I will be in Los Angeles later this week to interview the cast, see the movie, and attend the red carpet premiere of Mary Poppins Returns! I may or may not have mentioned I am a little bit of a Mary Poppins fan (see evidence). Happy birthday to me! It is a quick trip, but we have a packed itinerary with Mary Poppins Returns and also a trip to ABC TV and the Disney Channel. I am sure it will be practically perfect in every way!
The cast of Mary Poppins Returns is incredible and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to interview many of them. Our first night in Los Angeles we will screen the film and enjoy an audience Q & A with many of the actors and filmmakers. The following day we will participate in smaller group interviews. I hope you will send me your questions (or leave them in the comment section), I will try to get to as many as possible. First we will interview Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer who play Michael Banks and Jane Banks. We will also be interviewing Lin-Manuel Miranda who plays Jack and Emily Blunt who plays Mary Poppins; this is where I will be using all my grown up skills to play it cool. Anabel Banks and Georgie Banks are the next generation of Banks children, they are played by Pixie Davis and Joel Dawson who we will also have the opportunity to chat with. We will also be speaking with the talented director, Rob Marshall as well as Songwriters Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Again, please send me fun questions to ask the cast and film makers. I know we have so many friends here that are anxiously awaiting this movie as much as I am and I want you to be a part of it!
“In Disney’s MARY POPPINS RETURNS, an all-new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss. Emily Blunt stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any ordinary task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London.”
I cannot wait for the red carpet! Disney always has unique and memorable red carpet premieres. Every time I have been able to attend I am blown away by how each event is so perfectly tailored for each movie. Mary Poppins holds such a special place in so many hearts already that I know it is going to be the best yet. Make sure to follow along on social media. Twenty five family bloggers from around the country will all be using the hashtag #MaryPoppinsReturnsEvent during interviews and live from the red carpet! On the off chance you have not seen the trailer, get ready for some magic…..
