How is the new Little Mermaid different than the cartoon version?

• the cast of the 2023 version is far more diverse
• Ariel is 18 in the newest version, verses 16 years old in the first
• New songs have been added as well as updated versions from the original
• Subtle changes have been made to past songs.
• Ariel is made to forget that she needs a kiss of true love.
• Chef Louis is not in the newest version. There was a rumor that Lin Manuel – Miranda would be playing Chef Louis, but sadly, this is not true!
• Scuttle is not a seagull but a diving bird.
• Overall, the movie felt very similar, but also updated. We loved it!
