The Sword in the Stone is a classic Disney animated feature film. The Sword in the Stone first delighted audiences in 1963. As a child of the 80s, I grew up watching the Disney adaptation of King Arthur’s early life on the Disney Channel. As an orphaned child, Arthur, who was then known as Wart, wants to help his foster brother, Kay, succeed in becoming a knight. While helping Kay train, Wart stumbles upon a cabin belonging to Merlin, a bumbling but talented wizard. Merlin does his best to convince the boy that he is bound for greatness, and when Wart and Kay travel to London to attend a jousting contest, they learn that Merlin was right.

Arguably, the best character in Sword in the stone is the spooky Madam Mim. Madam Mim is a magical witch. Madam Mim is comical, but make no mistake, she is a villain who wants to make problems for Merlin and Wart. Madam Mim is one of my favorite characters, but she is not very well known. If there is enough interest, I may add some of Madame Mim’s shape shifting characters as well, so make sure to come back and check.
